Compendium of Curiosities.....

Well its finally finished....the card for my sisters husbands birthday and its also the last compendium of curiosities challenge (see page 67), hosted by the ever so talented Linda......sniff sniff, what will we do on Mondays now ???? I just hope she has something up her sleeve as shes inspired us all to create following the instructions from The Book of Ink......Compendium Of Curiosities. I must admit that had it not been for Linda motivating and challenging us each week I probably wouldn't have opened the book to try all the different techniques......now that I have opened it and tried lots of amazing techniques I feel alot more confident in playing with various materials......so a big THANK YOU Linda for the challenges and your lovely inspirational comments......you rock hun. and another thank you to all the sponsers for their amazing generousity with the fab prizes up for grabs each week. I used Weathered wood, Chipped Sapphire, Broken China and Stormy Sky for the inky backgrounds and then glimmer misted using Twilight and Irr. Gold. the stamps are from various companies including Artsy crafts, Artistic Stamper,Crafty Individuals.....the bottom right corner panel is a photo of my brother in law on his Dads motor bike......so cute, better not let him hear me say that as he doesn't do cute. The metal clock was a freebie stamp from The Craft Stamper mag. I stamped onto the metal with Stazon and then puffed out the back for depth.

when the game spinner is moved he can lift up the tag

Nothing on the telly.......

Morning peeps well it is morning when I started to write this but it'll probabaly be evening when I post it......its a real inconvience having to go to work in the middle part...lol. Oh well I'm off from tomorrow until Sunday, going to Paris for a couple of days to take Ethan and his mum and dad to Disneyland, the weather forecast is sunny for the three days.........can't remember what that looked like so heres hoping that it comes out whilst we're there.
I've been published as well, at Artella, with the bottle top tutorial I did for JoAnne a little while back. Its an online arty/newsy magazine click here for more info.
Todays offering is a mess about that I did last night and its keeping the Paris theme I've been doing lately.....nothing on the telly and my mojo for card making was out the window so I started cutting up pics I've collected and made a collage effect on an envelope that contained a reciept from All Saints the clothing shop.......I love their industrial grunge windows that they do and they wrap their clothes in lovely grungy tissue paper as well as putting the reciept in a vintage looking envelope.....trouble is the clothes cost a fortune and they look grungy as well......lol, so I have to beg the  bits I want from other people. I thought this might fit the challenge at Simon Says stamp and show this week as the challenge is Ephemera.....I had to make do with pics instead or using the real thing hope thats ok guys.....The other challenge is for Lindas at Compendium of Curiosities......this week its collage fragments.
I know mine is kinda cheating as the collage spills past the fragment but I loved the look so I kept it....sorry Linda hope I'm forgiven......lol.The background stamps I used are by B Line......the tape measure and the houndstooth background.

Compendium of Curiosities.....

Afternoon peeps just woke from having my afternoon nap with my Grandson......its an age thing lol. I started this tag the other night and wasn't sure what I was doing for it, so its one of those it kinda just developed tag....The technique this week at Compendium of Curiosities is Altered Metal using Alcohol inks, I saw Tim demoing using these inks on the new metal foil, for the intense colours he just scribbled the ink straight onto the metal foil. for the technique this week you'll have to consult the 'inky book of techniques' or I'll be in trouble with Linda, why not pop over and see some of the awesome work from other entries. Some other challenges this week are Simon Says Show and Stamp.....stripes, the background was made using a Kabuka mould from TSS.....just love the little buttons. The Shabby Tearoom challenge is Buttons and bow. Gingersnap Creations have a colour challenge using jewel colours with added gold......the gold is the dewdrops and the gold beads threaded through the top.The stamp for the corset is from B Line and the challenge at Moving Along the Times.....fashion

Compendium of Curiosities.....

Afternoon peeps, I've just managed to finish off my tag for this weeks challenge over at Lindas pad, click here to be transported to this weeks technique, which can be found on page 59, Inking and Stamping Masks. The car stamp is from Elusive images.....sorry Tim I haven't got your car stamp, the colour inks I used were Bundled Sage, Forest Moss, Tea Dye and Vintage Photo, I spritzed the tag over the masks with Cocoa Glimmer mist.....this has muted the colours of the inks for a more faded look, not intentional but I love using mists as you get a soft sheen. The clock has also been embossed in Tea Dye distress embossing powder, the cog stamp is from The Artisitic stamper and the image in the embellishment is from Crafty Individuals, I didn't think my cropodile would cut through the bottle top but t did....yay. I love making these tags for men so this one will be for my Brother-in-laws birthday card next month.

I've used a couple of stamps from A Cats life.....the valentine sentiment and the Amour meaning......going through a mushy stage I think, the Eiffel Tower image is from Crafty Individuals as is the stamp frank in the bottle top.The flouish stamp is from Viva.

.......Well my brain is but its also the challenge at Lindas place....Compendium of Curiosities is Rusted grunge, now the technique is top secret but if you have the decode book turn to page 45 and follow the instructions......don't worry it won't self destruct after you have completed the mission.......sorry Linda.
I used tea dye distress powder and it actually worked, it does look rusty ....cool or what, sorry about the quality of the photos taken at night with flash. Image of train drivers is from Crafty Individuals as is the sentiment and the ticket stamped onto tissue paper, the background stamp is from The Artistic Stamper, I tried the scribble ink background again as its great for vintage backgrounds.

Compendium of Curiosities....

Well folks its over for another year, I've managed to get some crafting done today without falling asleep in the afternoon, when I get a holiday I usually spend the first 2 days snoozing, terrible really as I slept through most of Christmas, this afternoon I'm catching up on washing and ironing well I will be later after I finished playing Donkey Kong Country on the WII, I'm getting better at collecting bananas now.....lol.
Todays tag is following the challenge at Compendium of Curiosities......using re-inker. The colours I've used are bundled sage, victorian velvet and old paper and the re- inker was tea dye. The background came out quite dark so I went with a vintage male theme using stamps from Artemio, graphics 45 clock and man image. The suitacase is from B Line and the key is embossed with a bronze embossing powder and then aged using black.

Challenges
Compendium of Curiosities......Re-inker technique.
Tuesday Taggers.......Old father time (open to interpretation), the challenge this week is sponsered by The Craft Barn.

Day Six Tag....

Evening peeps, wow what a spectacular day, the frost made everywhere looked magical .....picture post card material. I went out side and took some pics as I've never seen the frost look so thick although its been -6 for most of the day it hasn't felt so cold, probably getting used to it. Today is Tuesday and that can only mean one thing.......Ethan day, after breakfast he wanted some juice, so off he trots to the kitchen and I hear a voice saying "juice nana.....chop chop", I was in stitches, I guess I've got to jump to it now, little tinker.
Todays tag is yesterdays tag, again quite alot of improvisation.......I did have the tissue tape though.....yay, I cut out the snowman from grunge board as I don't have any of the dies also cut out the trees......well my version of the trees anyway, I added frost to them for a snowy look to go with the snowflake embossed background which i covered with rock candy stickles but it doesn't show up that well in the photo.

Feelin' blue

Had my grandson on a sleepover last night, he usually manages to sleep in his own bed for half the night but then creeps in with me, well I have to fetch him as he'll wake everyone else up, this morning at 7.00am I had a little voice in my hear saying wake up Nana, and as you can guess thats all the sleep you're going to get as hes bouncing around and I'm shuffling half a sleep about, he did get my coat of my bed for me......by the way my coat is my dressing gown, thats what he calls it..........
All my Christmas cards seem to be blue this year and I don't know why as its not a colour scheme that I usually do, perhaps is all this snow we're having as I'm loving all things snowflakes at the moment, brrr.......
hope you are all keeping warm, we've still not had much of the white stuff just a sprinkling, so onto todays card, last weeks compendium of curiosities challenge was double distressing, and I just had to use TH stamp for the main image, colours used are Broken China and Chipped Sapphire, the snowflake dies are by Marianne.

Compendium of Curiosities....

I seem to be getting later and later at entering these challenges, this weeks Compendium of Curiosities challenge is called Alcohol Ink Splatter, on page 52 so if you want to join in over to Lindas blog where all the details are as I'm sworn to secrecy about the technique. I'm getting into these inks now....I think, I'm certainly lovin' the effect when used on metal, so todays tag is using the softer shades....I've gone all pastel.....lol. The challenge at Tag Tuesday was to create a background with the minimum of embellishments , so I guess this fits the bill as well. Sunday Stamper this week has the theme of butterflies so pop over to Hels if you want to play, and apparently lots of butterflies together are called a Kaleidoscope of butterflies, so I guess the background for the tag fits in quite nicely. The butterfly stamp is from B Line, and the sentiment is a Paper Artsy Hot Picks stamp.

Its seems ages since I last blogged but I've had a whirlwind of a crafting weekend, sorry for not posting any pics but now its dark in the mornings and evenings when I get home ,I have to wait for my day off work to take any half decent pictures, I think I may have to make a light box. This weeks challenge at Compendium of Curiosities is Perfect Distress....turn to page 38 for the deets, at least we're not doing anything extreme this week, I think I may have to have another go at this as I was a little heavy handed with the spritzing....well you learn by your mistakes as they say....I have photographed the card  this evening, so the photo is not too good but  I didn't want to wait till Thursday when its my day off again. The stamp is one of my favourite Tim Holtz christmas stamps, I've sprinkled it with silver embossing powder, I used Old Paper, Chipped Saphire, Tea dye and Broken China distress inks.I used an image from Crafty Individuals for the bottle top, I covered the image with glossy accents and sprinkled silver glitter on the top before it dried.......

Take 3.....

Well I've finally finished my project for Compendium of curiosities.....phew!!! Mr. T Holtz makes it look so easy, well he is the master of inkyness. I suppose had I had the pearl instead of using every shade but for the base coat the task may have been easier. This weeks challenge is Agate Grunge.....Hmmm after 2 attempts my final try was the frame for the image and rather than just use 1 of the samples I thought I'd use them all, hence a multi coloured project with added bling.

Challenges

Compendium of Curiosities

Well another week and its another challenge over at Lindas place....this week its grunge flowers instructions are on page 65, but I'm sworn to secrecy as to how you do them....lol. I did use Italian print to cover them first so that it tied in with my theme.....Venice, I'm in the process of making a mini album but what takes a couple of days for most people takes me well so far over 6 months, granted I don't work on it that much usually when a challenge is for a tag that I can fit in with it. The square images are from Crafty Individuals and have been stamped in sepia and gold and tea dye embossing powder added to parts of the images. The background was glimmer misted over a regal mask from Tattered Angels. The lace is from my shopping expedition in Holland....oh well once I've used my trims up I have another excuse to go back. The stamps I used for the corneers are from Viva.....amazing set of stamps for just £3.50 from Bubbly Funk.
