Working progress

You know when you get to the stage... do you add more or stop? well that's where I am at with this. It has been a trial and error project, the kit was from a class I couldn't attend due to illness but I didn't have any instructions with it, all I know was I should have used beeswax at some point but I couldn't get on with it so I kinda made it up as I was going along.

I have used image transfer for the lady in the metal frame which was first embossed in Verdigris and then stamped on top of the embossing and the image added behind, the background is a combination of acrylic paint, glimmer mist, and tissue image transfer with stamping over all of that and the metal railing has been coloured and misted as well. The flowers are metal cut out from a punch and then touched up with metalic paint. The lace on the top was coloured using mist and metallic paint and then stiffened before being added to the top of the frames. I have added a metallic border to the outside of each of the frames I think I'll have a go doing something to the backs of them now so that they are reversable.

The theme at StampARTic this week is to pick a favourite previous card to enter, I entered this one because of the colour scheme and the use of acetate for the embellishments....The  design was stamped in black on gold card cut up and mounted the acetate is stamped in black and embossed in gold and rather than using the embossed side up I turned them over so you get  a black line image with a gold outline doesn't show very well in the photo but looks good close up

Sepia Christmas Card

My first sepia card and definately not my last loved doing this, The design is a Sugar nellie and has been painted in Tea dye distress ink, after painting the design part of it has been layered up i.e bow, teddy and presents (doesn't show that well though) after I had finished painting I then spritzed the whole design in Glimmer mist to add the bling effect in the background the flowers were also spritzed

The card has been entered into the following challenges: Daring cardmakers who had the inspirational theme of sepia, Our Creative Corner has the theme of 12 days of Christmas.....Partridge in a pear tree, Cupcake have a christmas carol as an inspirational theme...not sure if the '12days of christmas' counts but heres hoping.Spoon full of sugar have the challenge of 'Monochrome', Papertake want christmas cards but NO red or green. The sketch for this design is over at Sketch Saturday

Christmas Tree

Finally got my christmas tree up, its a mamouth task....well it seems it to me I suppose it doesn't help when you have 3 trees to decorate, my son insists on having one in his room as well so it usually takes over a day to do them....the only consolation is I don't take them down, leave that to hubby and then I moan like mad the next year because I can't find the hooks for the baubles no doubt before the season is up I will have added more to it and tweeked.

Noel

Yesterday I spent the day at a workshop with the lovely talented  Linda from L.B.Crafts in Olney, I have booked a couple of her workshops..... boy are they hard to get into some, people had queued from 7.30a.m on the day that the classes had been released to book them,  might have to do that myself next year.....like waiting for the Next sale to start ....lol. We spent the day making this fab wall decoration NOEL now on the picture when I booked the class I thought it was small......oh no the photo I have taken is from the floor with me standing up the, design is about 25ins x8ins so we were kept busy all day. The tops of the letters were made in metal and we had to select different moulds for the patterns-----first time doing metal work and it makes your hands ache but well worth it.So I spent a lovely day painting and getting messy......can't wait for the next one.

Close up of one of the letters and the fab background.

Thinking of you

The theme over at Simon Says this week is 'Thinking of You' which you can interperate as a get well, sympathy, etc. So I have painted this Sarah Kay design with cosmic shimmer and twinkling H20's, which I think fits the criteria, the sketch I have followed is from Cottage Pixie. The design I kept simple because I wanted the emphasis to be on the stamped image and not over cluttered with flowers etc.

Thursday, 12 November 2009

Primary Colours

This card was a smidge difficult to do, in as much that I didn't have that many papers that were primary colours and the theme at 'Cute Card Thursday is to use primary colours. The stamp is a sugar nellie design the papers were from a magazine eons ago, I stitched the paper panel down the centre stitching the ribbon in place as I went. The sketch that I  followed was on Sketch Saturday this was a lovely sketch to follow and I was quite pleased with the overall finish.Over at Allsorts this week the theme is 'Bring out the Bling' and 'One stop' have the theme of a card for kids, and finally Creative Card Crew have tha theme of ribbons and gems.

Red White and Blue

This weeks challenge at 'Anyone for Anya' is a colour theme of the colours of the national flag hence red white and blue. I followed the sketch from 'Sketch and Stamp', over at 'Winter Wonderland' the theme is Jingle Bells so I added the little bell charm at the bottom and at 'One stop Craft' you have to include text or newspaper as an element so being as both backing papers are text backgrounds this meets the criteria for this challenge
