Colouring Competion

Polka Doodles are having a colouring competion and the prize is a set of Aqua markers by Letraset so I have entered this card which I coloured with sakura pens and h2o's

Graduation congrats...

As you know my blue haired son graduated last week so I made him a card .....now the card is probably a bit too cute for a guy but it was sent as a bit of fun as he kept reminding me that he expected a hand made card not a brought one.......so I coloured this with the colours from his robe and added the blue tail for the colour in his hair. Papers are from Cuddly Buddly and the image was a freebie digi download from Dustin Pike.

Just Inspirational....Summer

Today is Thursday.....so that means the theme for the challenge at Just Inspirational is Summer, although I must admit we're not having very good weather at the moment, more like Autumn than Summer. There is also a  sketch to follow as well. Now what with all these hot flushes I'm getting at the moment it seemed appropriate to go with a lolly as I've kinda had quite a few so far this summer (went shopping this morning and filled up the freezer with some more)........mind you the ones I like have chocolate round well I am a chocoholic lol. Papers are from Creative Cardmaking Summer seasonal special magazine , the sentiment is from Papermania, and the stamp is from Woodware. Looking forward to visiting blogs to see your lovely creations

Toy Story 3...

Late night posting after getting back from the cinema to see Toy Story 3, we had to queue outside for half an hour.....thats a first for me, but it was Orange wednesday so I think half of Nuneaton turned up, the film was excellent esp. as it was in 3D it hasn't lost any of its appeal and there were more adults than there were children in the cinema. My daughter has taken some Kitten pics with Ethan so I thought I'd share them with you.

looks like this is a new game

Vintage

I love doing vintage cards so being as some of the challenge themes this week are Vintage thought it was the perfect excuse to make a card, so here I am posting this card whilst eating lunch and watching Dark Knight at the same time....The image is a download ....sorry I forgot to make a note of where its from, probabaly Vintage Dragonfly. I have used 3 DI's for this tea dye, victorian velvet and bundled sage the flower stamp is this months freebie with The Craft stamper, I stamped the flower with sepia and sprinkled gold embossing powder on it, then distressed and cut out the various petals for added dimension......sorry got to stop and dunk my choccie biscuit in my tea....mmm needed that now where was I ......the background paper is from The Paper Cellar, I brought the gold diamante trim yesterday off the market and cut off each flower and used it for the centre of the flowers. The sentiment is a Tim Holtz label cut down. I'm looking forward to the Vintage challenge site that Simon Says are starting at the begining of August should be great.

Sale.......

Got up this morning and there was an Email informing me Cuddly Buddly have a 20% off all stamps sale....been shopping ever since, now if you thought Cuddly Buddly only sold Cute teddies....you're wrong because Kim sells Tim Holtz, Marianne designs, Martha Stewart and a whole lot more and now you get a whopping 20% off her already low prices and P&P is only £1 no matter how much you buy. So I've been stocking up on Tim Holtz stamps as I only have a couple and a few others besides......
I'm off to have a play in my craft room as everyone else is asleep....best time to craft.
Just got to tell you this though before I go.......last night my daughter phoned and said can you come round for a cup of tea for 10 mins....now that sounded suspicious to me as I don't often get requests unless it involves something......I was promised Strawberries and cream as well so that was the clincher, went in Ethan bounding all over the place, went to sit on the settee and nearly sat on the ....smallest kitten I've ever seen...what a cutie shes a bengal Tiger stripey thingy sorry I know that there is a correct name but can't remember.....OMG she is soooo sweet, now I hasten to add that I am not a cat person always had dogs so when I'm babysitting Ethan not sure if that involves Kitty sitting as well now. The only thing was when I did eventually get my strawberries and cream Ethan managed to get to them first and polished most of them off....little monkey, by the way the kittens name is Alice, Ethan adores her already......poor thing!!

Shattered...

We've just got back after a rather long day at my sons graduation, the weather was kind and stayed dry although it had forecast rain, we did arrive before the rush so we had a leisurely day until the ceremomy later this afternoon...I didn't realise that only the parents were allowed to clap or shout out as their son or daughter went across the stage....I don't know who was more nervous my son or us, we had to make ourselves heard from the circle so that our son could hear us on stage.......no problem. Pictures are before and after, the hair def. clashed with the colours of his robe....but he was happy so thats all that matters, and he was the only student there with blue hair, all his other fellow students who had sported various shades and lengths all year had a colour ban by their parents for the ceremony.

Morning peeps I'm being naughty and posting this altered beer mat before going off to my sons graduation.....I've painted my nails, so I'm almost ready, I did wonder whether to paint them blue to match my sons hair....see previous post for what I mean, but decided on deep burgundy with glitter ...gotta have a smidge of bling lol.
The beer  mat was given to me by Linda Elbourne you know the lady that is soooo in love Lord Tim of Holtz, I covered the mat with newspaper print using Claudine Hellmuth Studio multi-medium matte gluey sticky stuff, the background was distressed using Stormy Sky, Chipped Sapphire and Broken China, the Italian stamps are from Cherry pie art stamps, the mask was stamped on grungepaper, the bottle cap was covered in newsprint again using CH Studio, the face is from the images by Crafty Individuals, and I added clear rock candy distress crackle paint to give a more aged look.

Blue is the colour......

I had so much planned today, it all went out the window when my son decided to have his hair done ....just one streak of colour I was told 3.5 hours later and spending the afternoon being the entertainment in the hairdressers he came out like this.....its his graduation tomorrow and I think there may be a colour clash !!  I guess Simon is in hair colouring what Tim Holtz is in distressing......Broken China, a touch of chipped saphire, tumbled glass  to name but a few of the coloured streaks......oh to be young again, dread to think what his Dad is going to say lol...

it looks much brighter blue than the photos!!!!!!!

Check it out....

Morning...I've just found out that my grandson is poorly so I've got the day off as his Dad is going to look after him, poor thing .........so what will I do all day hmmm !!

I've got a couple of days off next week together .....my son's graduation is on Wednesday, so proud of him.
A couple of challenges this week are featuring Christmas in July so I thought I'd post this card that I made besfore going on my holls, the background paper was already printed with the word......quite handy, the paper is from The Paper Cellar, they do quite sweet pads of paper and are reasonably priced as well, the image is from WOJ, painted with Sakura pens for extra bling.

Talked into.....

Just got back from a mini shopping spree....my mum needed a bra and my son wanted to check out some cameras so whilst my mum and I were lingerie shopping the boys including my grandson went camera shopping, when we met up for a coffee later my son said we needed a new printer......the ink had run out the night before because I had printed quite a few papers for some DT work for Cuddly Buddly.......when I say quite a few ......is was about 50+, now just because we had run out of ink I couldn't see the need for a new printer all we needed was a new cartridge or so I thought........but my son is very good at talking us round, like if you have a higher resolution the papers will look even better, its nearly as cheap  to buy a new printer as it is to buy new ink, this printer has seperate cartridges so it'll be cheaper in the long run..........etc. you get the idea don't you.....so guess what we buy a new printer that I'm assured will produce better quality papers, can scan my pictures in, etc. etc.Not sure if I'm an easy pushover................by the way my mum did get her bra but after finding the right size she asks how much it was, so I tell her £12.....oh I could get 4 she says, managed to talk her into getting just 2 and a pair of trousers....so shes happy and so is my son.

After all that the card I've made is a DT card using a Cuddly Buddly stamp called Ballerina Bear coloured in with distress inks and h2o's, the papers are called Patchwork in Plum again from Cuddly Buddly and the flowers are from Prima, my grandson helped me punch out the leaves....he loves my craft room but he's like a mini tornado when he's in there....ahhh!!!

The lace was distressed and ribbon threaded through it, ticket from Tim Holtz.....as if you didn't know that...lol, gold textured flower was from Cuddly Buddly.

It kinda developed.....

For this weeks challenge at L3 Studios....compendium of Curiosities is embossing with ....you guessed it embossing powder but not your ordinary one you have to use Distress Embossing powder, I must confess that I only have the one which is black soot but it lends itself for the silohuette effect that I wanted for this stamp which is from Paper Artsy, you get a lovely grunge texture effect when you rub your finger over the top of the raised area, the background of the tag was distressed with Dried Marigold, Spiced Marmalade, Mahoghany and a smidge of dried straw, I then spritzed the tag with Irr. gold glimmer mist......the effect I wanted was a kinda sunset with the dying heat of the sun as it sets. Then instead of leaving it at that I got a bit carried away and added a stamped suitcase (B Line stamp) onto acetate and laid it over the top of  the tag and made a flap by securing one side with eyelets, the flower stamp is from this months Craft Stamper mag....yummy or what the stamp I mean....great flower, I cut the petals and rolled them to get a more dimensional flower, added a ticket from Mr Holtz and a gold Fleur de Lys to finish off the tag you can lift the flap up and then put a photo under it.......

Back Home

Hiya peeps we are all back home after our holls in Italy...need another holiday to recover I think, my grandson had a great time no more rubber rings for him only happy to be diving in the water whether it was the sea or pool hes only 20 months going on 4 years....hes learnt his first Italian word Ciao...very hot there in the 30's most days dread to think what the temp. gets to in August, can't cope with hot flushes and high tempratures at the same time. My son got his results for his degree whilst we were on hols....a 2.1 with honours in computer game programming, he excelled in 3d art, so we are all thrilled to bits with him especially as a teacher at school when he was picking his subjects for GCES told him not to do computing as he was no good....I did lots of colouring whilst I was away so now I've got to find the time to make them up and get into entering challenges again...can't wait I did miss my fix. lol
Oh well off to do the mountain of washing, followed by ironing.....why do we go on holiday !!!!

Hiya peeps, just a quick note to let you know its warm here in Italy but the mossies are biting and we are covered in lumps, we had a cracking thunderstorm last night the caravan shook, but was nice and sunny this morning, on the plus side I'm getting brown and I'm managing to get lots of colouring done ready to make into cards when I get back, sounds like the weather is great back home as well
